Status of Legislative Bills

The Washington State Legislative session started this year on January 13 and is scheduled to end April 27, 2025. There are some exciting updates from Audubon Washington to share and we need your help to ensure that key environmental priorities continue to move forward in the 2025 legislative session.

Priority Kelp Bill is in good shape! This bill, HB 1631, to establish kelp as the state marine forest, is moving along. We are pleased with the progress it’s making and will support it when needed.

Priority Salmon Recovery Bill is gaining momentum! HB 1208 / SB 5155 is making strides, but help is needed to continue its momentum. It’s a key piece of legislation for restoring vital salmon populations and the habitat that birds and fish need across the state.

Support the Habitat Connectivity Bill. We know that connected landscapes are essential for the survival of many species, including birds. That’s why we need your help to support SB 5203, which will ensure our state’s Habitat Connectivity Action Plan is fully implemented.
