Scholarship Deadline Is Coming in Early April
Do you have a teenager who is graduating from high school this spring and wants to study conservation, environmental science, ornithology and such? If you do or if you know someone, have them apply for the Whidbey Audubon Society Renee Smith Scholarship for Environmental Studies. It supports Whidbey Island graduating high school seniors who are going on to pursue higher education degrees in environmental programs.
Each spring Whidbey Audubon Society (WAS) awards scholarships of $1,500 or $2,000 to two or three outstanding students.
The deadline for each high school varies, but is generally due the first week in April. Check with the high school counselor’s office for the date due and an application.
Our scholarship winners in 2024 were Ava Mitten of Coupeville High School and Naomi Atwood, Sophia Patrin and Audrey Gmerek of South Whidbey High School. This was our thirteenth year of scholarship awards.
