Free and via Zoom
Please join the Salish Sea Guillemot Network’s End-of-Season Celebration, to share stories of the summer’s surveys and enjoy a presentation about Farallon Island Seabird research.
Our local Pigeon Guillemot Breeding Survey volunteers will share observations and photos of their time on the beaches in seven regions of the Salish Sea, including many of the 28 Pigeon Guillemot colonies around Whidbey Island.
Also, Senior Marine Ecologist with Point Blue Conservation Science, Dr. Mike Johns, will discuss some long-term trends and new insights into the breeding and migratory behavior of Pigeon Guillemots on Southeast Farallon Island. Dr. Johns just wrapped up his 9th season on the Farallones, and he’s excited to share recent results from a 3-year telemetry study, along with the history of Point Blue’s 54-year legacy of seabird research on a remote offshore California outcropping.
All Whidbey Audubon Society members and volunteers of the SSGN Pigeon Guillemot Breeding Survey will automatically receive the Zoom link. Nonmembers, please register below to receive the link. It will be sent to you the afternoon of October 5th. Registration will close at 2:00 pm on the 5th.
Registration is closed.
The program will be recorded and the video made available on this website and the website of the Salish Sea Guillemot Network.
