Let’s take a quiet fall walk at Del Fairfax Preserve, a lovely 50 acre property owned by Whidbey Camano Land Trust located just north of Coupeville. This is a beautiful place to stroll in the woods, listen for forest birds and walk around an open field with a small wetland. The 1.2 mile loop trail is level, with some roots, and there may be some wet spots and mud. It takes about an hour to walk — longer if lots of birds are out. We usually see raptors, woodpeckers, creepers, wrens, and other little brown birds. Dress for the weather, with boots or waterproof shoes.
Meet at 9 a.m. at the parking lot at the Del Fairfax Preserve, 1818 Zylstra Road, Oak Harbor. Please do not block the gravel road or the Zylstra Road Fire Station bay doors.
Maximum 10 participants. All must be fully vaccinated, have a mask and be willing to wear it if asked, will depend on conditions. High winds and/or heavy rain will cancel trip.
